Pick 6 carryover of $69K on Friday at Saratoga Race Course
Friday’s card at Saratoga Race Course will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $69,891 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Thursday’s nine-race program.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $1,327.08 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
Thursday’s Pick 6 sequence began in Race 4 with Karey [No. 5, $9.44] capturing a claiming mile out of the Wilson Chute under Christopher Elliott for trainer and co-owner Ilkay Kantarmaci.
Soaring High [No. 3, $3.22*], boasting Hall of Fame pedigree as a daughter of Curlin out of Songbird, proved much the best in Race 5 to win an optional-claimer with Jose Ortiz up for conditioner Cherie DeVaux.
Queen of Hawaii [No. 1, $11.20] surged between rivals late to capture Race 6, a one-mile optional-claimer over the inner turf, with Ortiz aboard for trainer Philip Antonacci.
Manny Franco and Ilkay Kantarmaci teamed up to win Race 7, a six-furlong claiming sprint, with Gatsby [No. 2, $11.64]. In Race 8, After Taxes [No. 11, $18.72] proved best in a starter optional-claiming sprint over the Mellon turf with Dylan Davis in the irons for trainer Bruce Brown.
With only 4-of-10 horses uncovered in the Race 9 nightcap, a 1 1/16-mile inner turf maiden for 3-year-olds and up, first-time starter Iron Palace [No. 2, $57.14] proved resilient on the front end for jockey Edgard Zayas and trainer George Weaver to trigger the carryover.
Friday’s Pick 6 begins in Race 5 at approximately 3:20 p.m. Eastern for a sequence that includes the Grade 3, $225,000 Victory Ride in Race 9. First post on the 10-race card is 1:10 p.m. Eastern.
