Mad Dog Racing Stable’s Bam’s Bliss Kiss made every pole a winning one en route to a dominant 8 1/4-length score to bring her win streak to six in Sunday’s $135,000 Biogio’s Rose, a one-turn mile for older New York-bred fillies and mares, at Aqueduct Racetrack.

The 4-year-old Solomini dark bay was haltered by trainer Jorge Abreu for $45,000 out of a winning effort – the third in the current streak of frontrunning wins – on New Year’s Eve at the Big A. She has followed with three more wins, besting open company twice here this winter, ahead of a first career stakes win on Sunday.

Bam’s Bliss Kiss traveled beyond seven furlongs for the first time in the Biogio’s Rose and showed the one-turn mile was well within her scope, much to the delight of Mad Dog Racing Stable’s Larry Dorman.

“This is just something. I never really expected to get a horse like this who could just keep on winning,” Dorman said. “Today, she did something she's never done before going one mile. She did it so easily. I'm super happy. She is one of the best claims I've ever made.”

Bam’s Bliss Kiss broke inward from post 5 under regular pilot Jaime Rodriguez but straightened out to show the way through an opening quarter-mile in 23.80 seconds over the fast main track with the 6-5 favorite Collect the Data – on a three-race win streak – prompting the pace on the outside from second position.

Bam’s Bliss Kiss traveled comfortably on the lead down the backstretch through a half-mile in 47.15 with Collect the Data in second, longshot Sweetest Princess on the rail in third and stakes-winner Sweet Brown Sugar stalking from fourth.

Collect the Data lost ground through the turn as Sweet Brown Sugar attempted to make up ground, but Bam’s Bliss Kiss relished the added distance, opening up by 7 1/2-lengths at the stretch call and staying on strong to score in a final time of 1:38.22.

Rodriguez, aboard for the last five wins of the streak, said he discussed the stretch out in distance with Abreu.

“I was a little bit worried because she had never run a mile,” Rodriguez admitted. “The trainer asked me, ‘what do you think about the stakes going a mile?’ I said, ‘let’s see how the field is, and if there’s not too many in the race, take a shot.’ The only thing that worried me was if someone came running out of there like a maniac and pressed me all the way.

“She broke good,” Rodriguez continued. “And the two horses outside me got a little bit of speed, but when she got the jump in front of everybody, I said, ‘no, I’m going to let you do your own thing, free.’ She loved that. Once I let her run her own race, she got big in front."

Sweet Brown Sugar completed the exacta by a neck over the inside rallying Midtown Lights with Walk With Me, Lika Rolling Stone, Collect the Data and Sweetest Princess rounding out the order of finish.

Kendrick Carmouche said Sweet Brown Sugar, who was making her first start for trainer Rob Atras, had no excuses.

“My horse ran good. Was in a good spot. Second best today,” Carmouche said. “Not much to say, it was my first time on her, she ran good but couldn't beat the winner. That horse was rolling on the lead. I thought there'd be more of a pace, so they'd come back, but that didn't happen. The winner sizzled around there."

Bam’s Bliss Kiss was initially trained by David Duggan, winning twice in 10 outings before being claimed for $17,500 by Linda Dixon in July at Saratoga Race Course. She was third in her first two starts for Dixon before a neck allowance score at Finger Lakes Racetrack in November to launch her current streak, which was followed by a state-bred optional-claiming win in early December here.

Rodriguez said he looks forward to continuing the streak with the win-friendly filly.

“She’s awesome,” Rodriguez said. “I think she’s improving every race she runs. We both get along, and we know each other. The first day, I said, ‘man, I love this filly.’ Then I rode her again and I said, ‘oh, I know how you like to run.’ I love her. She’s little, but she’s got a big heart.”

Bred in the Empire State by Torie D. Gladwell, Bam’s Bliss Kiss, out of the Into Mischief mare Kiska, banked $74,250 in victory while improving her record to 18-8-1-3. She returned $10.32 for a $2 win ticket.
