$23K Pick 6 carryover kicks off Saratoga's final Belmont Stakes Racing Festival

The Wednesday, June 3 card, which opens the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival at Saratoga Race Course, will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $23,616 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Monday’s nine-race Memorial Day program, at Belmont at the Big A. 

The $1 Pick 6 returned $66.14 to bettors who selected 4-of-6 winners correctly.  

Monday’s Pick 6 sequence kicked off in Race 4 with a win from the New York-bred Rock the Weekend [No. 1, $23.68] in a seven-furlong claiming sprint for trainer Lolita Shivmangal with rider Omar Hernandez Moreno in the saddle.  

Race 5 was originally scheduled as a 1 3/8-mile maiden special weight on the inner turf, but was instead run on the main track at 1 1/4 miles after all of Monday's card was moved off-the-turf. The Chad Brown-conditioned Trading Strategy [No. 4, $7.86] appreciated the off going and rallied to victory for jockey Dylan Davis.

The next race saw conditioner David Donk send out Gresham’s Law [No. 4, $23.32] to win a New York-bred six-furlong maiden claimer, off-the-turf, with Dalila Rivera in the irons, in Race 6.  

In Race 7, a one-mile starter optional claimer, Davis visited the winner’s circle for the second time aboard Mursal [No. 5, $13.36] for trainer Linda Rice. In Race 8, a one-mile starter optional claimer, the James Ferraro-trained Tizmarkus [No. 6, $4.96*] proved best with jockey Jose Lezcano aboard.  

With the carryover already guaranteed heading into the Race 9 finale, a six-furlong claimer moved off the turf, Rivera notched a riding double by navigating Ready Set Twirl [No. 6, $10.10] to victory for trainer Rudy Rodriguez.  

Entries for the Wednesday, June 3 card will be taken this Thursday. Stakes engagements on tap include the Grade 1, $150,000 Beverly R. Steinman for steeplechasers, as well as six $200,000 events for New York-breds: the Bouwerie, Mike Lee, Mount Vernon, Kingston, Critical Eye and Commentator.
