Horse Profile: Crudo
Crudo was a pacesetting 7 1/2-length winner of the 1 1/16-mile Sir Barton on Preakness Day May 17 at Pimlico. Trained by Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher, the son of 2018 Triple Crown-winner Justify broke his maiden second-out in similar fashion sprinting about seven furlongs in April at Keeneland.
A newcomer to the Triple Crown trail, this aptly named colt is owned in part by celebrity chef Bobby Flay.
Crudo will look to become Pletcher’s fifth Belmont-winner with Hall of Famer and two-time Belmont champ Johnny Velazquez aboard.
