Pick 6 carryover of $27K on Sunday at Aqueduct Racetrack
Sunday’s card at Aqueduct Racetrack will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $27,406 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Saturday’s 10-race program.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $769 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
Saturday’s Pick 6 sequence kicked off in Race 5 with the favored Liberty Central [No. 6, $4.90*] taking a one-turn mile state-bred allowance with Jose Lezcano aboard for trainer Patrick Quick.
Kendrick Carmouche was aboard the next winner with the Daniel Velazquez-conditioned Play the Gray [No. 8, $7] capturing a one-mile state-bred maiden claimer, in Race 6. One race later, the favored Lightning Strike [No. 6, $3.60*] dominated a 6 1/2-furlong state-bred maiden with Manny Franco up for trainer Christophe Clement, in Race 7.
In Race 8, Luis Rivera, Jr. piloted New York-bred General Banker [No. 3, $14] to a mild upset in an open one-mile optional claimer for conditioner James Ferraro. In Race 9, the one-turn mile New York-bred $125,000 Gander, Soontobeking [No. 4, $14.80] closed for a thrilling nose score under Eric Cancel for trainer George Weaver.
With just 2-of-9 horses covered heading into the Race 10 finale, a 6 1/2-furlong state-bred maiden claimer, the Carlos Martin-trained longshot Royal Event [No. 6, $49.80] closed to victory under Katie Davis, who also won the state-bred Maddie May earlier in the card, triggering the carryover.
Sunday’s Pick 6 will begin in Race 4 at approximately 2:45 p.m. Eastern. First post for the nine-race card is 1:10 p.m.
