The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) today announced an initiative by local and regional supermarket chain Market 32 and Price Chopper that will launch at historic Saratoga Race Course during the summer meet to benefit the Regional Food Bank.

Each time the #3 horse wins the second race on the afternoon’s card, Market 32 and Price Chopper and Polar Beverages will donate 1,000 meals to the Regional Food Bank.

The initiative will be promoted throughout the summer and conclude on Labor Day, the final day of racing, when representatives from Market 32 and Price Chopper and Polar Beverages will present a check for the grand total of meals to be donated to the Regional Food Bank.

“NYRA is pleased to play a role in this creative initiative spearheaded by Market 32 to address food insecurity in the region,” said Robert Hines, NYRA Community Affairs Manager. “It is always gratifying when area businesses and organizations can use Saratoga Race Course as a platform to advance the work of charities that do so much for our communities.”

“We’re excited to bring some extra fun to Saratoga Race Course this season while supporting a cause that’s close to our hearts,” said Blaine Bringhurst, President of Market 32 and Price Chopper. “Every time the third horse wins the second race, we’re turning that victory into 1,000 meals for families in need through the Regional Food Bank. It’s a creative way to connect the thrill of racing with the power of giving back.

“Alleviating hunger is a community effort, and to make a real impact, it requires collaboration and innovation,” said Tom Nardacci, CEO of the Regional Food Bank. “We are so grateful to Market 32 and Price Chopper and Polar Beverages for this partnership with NYRA on this creative and generous initiative.”

Based in Schenectady, NY, Market 32 and Price Chopper operate 129 supermarkets, employing 16,000 teammates in New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. The American-owned company, founded by the Golub family in 1932, prides itself on longstanding traditions of innovative food merchandising, cutting-edge brand development and store design, leadership in community service, and cooperative employee relations.

Polar Beverages, the country’s largest independent soft-drink bottler, is a fourth-generation, family-owned business that traces its roots back to 1882. Polar Beverages is proud to partner with Market 32 and Price Chopper to support the Regional Food Bank.

Highlighted by the 156th edition of the Grade 1, $1.25 million DraftKings Travers on August 23 and the Grade 1, $1 million Whitney on August 2, the 2025 summer meet at historic Saratoga Race Course continues through Monday, September 1.

Following the four-day opening weekend, racing will be conducted five days a week, Wednesdays through Sundays, excluding closing week, when the meet will conclude on Labor Day.
